While growing up, the books that surrounded us at The Curio of Norfolk were our greatest source of inspiration. It inspired us to dream big and to keep on imagining new ideas. We would like you to help us give children’s books to those who really need one… or two or five.
Join us in collecting books for kids recovering at The Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD). We would love to know that parents of children at CHKD can have a bedtime story at their fingertips. And that independent young readers at this hospital can go to another world for just a little while.
To do this, we’re building a Christmas tree of books in The Curio of Norfolk. Please bring in (or mail!) brand new children’s books to help us put this tree together. You can drop off books at: The Curio of Norfolk, LLC, 2606 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23517.
We ask that the books be new so that children whose immune systems are compromised can enjoy these books without getting further illnesses.
Feel free to bring in four levels of books: Pre-reading, Beginners, Young independent readers, and Classics for older children. As our own contribution we are donating dictionaries, atlases, fun reference guides, and other books that touch our hearts, which will compose the base of the book tree.
For your donation, we would like to give you 10% off your purchase in the store that day. And, of course, you will also have the pleasure of knowing someone is healing a little bit more because of your book.
Our plan is to leave the children’s books Christmas tree up until Christmas Eve. Then we will have a glass of wine (or two), gather up the donated books, and bring them to CHKD. We look forward to providing the children at CHKD with gifts for the holidays.
Again, to donate, send books to 2606 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23517. For more info and updates on the growth of this community tree, check back here!
