Carved bog oak hand with edelweiss brooch from the Belle Epoque era. With C-clasp.
The hand holding edelweiss is said to be a symbol of courage. Given the perilous ascent into the Alps to encounter this flower, perhaps that is apt. And even further, the 1880's was known as the "Silver Age of Alpinism."
Europe, most likely Ireland, c.1880s.
It measures 2 x 1 x 1/2 and weighs 1/4 oz.
