A leather shuttered window from Belgium in the 16th or 17th century. Window is framed in dark wood with clear leaded glass in diamond light pattern. The brown leather shutter is embossed with a border of fantastical creatures and is strapped in with silver metal griffins. Shutter fastens closed with silver metal animal head clasp.
This window conjures up the dim interiors and bright streets of early modern life in Europe. Wonderful Old World accent to a home or office renovation project.
Shutter moves freely. Some minor warping in the diamond-light glass. One large imperfection in a central glass pane looks original.
Belgian from the 16th or 17th century.
