Framed Gustave Doré print of Satan after being wounded by the archangel Michael, from John Milton's "Paradise Lost." Doré printed 50 plates for an 1866 edition published by Cassell & Co. of Milton's 1667 work. This print is most likely from an edition in the 1880s or 1890s.
Framed in custom-made archival framing with museum quality glass and matting. Surrounded by an incredibly unique and heavy butt-welded iron frame... that was fittingly made with a process using sulphuric acid... Both print and frame are in excellent condition. Frame measures 16.5 x 18.5 x 1.25 inches. Weighs 7 lbs 15 oz.
