Pastil de Kola gilded porcelain labeled, handblown blue glass bottle with red tin top, France, c. 1850s. C. asiatica is known in English as pennywort, but the French word Kola comes from the Tamil word for the plant, Gotu Kola. Tamil speaking Pondicherry was a French colony until 1954.

The tin lid is slightly dented in two places on the edge, but the glass and gilded porcelain are in excellent condition. Measures 5 3/4 H x 2 1/4 inches in diameter and weighs 8 1/2 oz. Opening at top measures 1 3/4 inches in diameter.
