Stationary box with inlaid mahogany veneer and a slant top lid, Dutch from the early to mid 1800s. Mahogany veneer with square of narrow rope inlay on the top of the lid. With brass handles on the sides. Interior of lid is lined with pink velvet with pink rope. Three wood dividers in the box are built to be removed easily as needed. Brass lock and hinges. Includes a half sheet of handwritten music composition from the mid 20th century.
We found this item in the Netherlands. May have originally been a cutlery or knife box. in good condition. The lid opens and closes smoothly. Handles are sturdy. Some slight damage on the top front right corner of the box under the lid, and some other slight crackling in the veneer. Does not include the original key. Overall, a clean, impressive, and stately piece. Measures 14 7/8 x 13 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches. Weighs 10 lbs 1 oz.
